The Associate of Science (AS) degree is designed as a pathway to a CMC bachelor degree, or to transfer to a four-year college or university for the purpose of earning a bachelor degree. All general education courses are intended to transfer; occasional elective courses may not be accepted for transfer by particular four-year institutions so it’s important to work with an advisor to develop an appropriate pathway through the curriculum. Students wishing to choose an emphasis pathway are strongly encouraged to work with a CMC advisor to follow the emphasis course maps provided, as those course maps differ slightly from the general AS outlined below. Students can also consult the Colorado Department of Higher Education for articulation transfer guides to various science majors at Colorado four-year institutions.
Students must demonstrate college-level proficiency in composition, reading, and mathematics as prerequisites for courses within this program. Skills in these areas may affect the sequence of courses in which students can enroll and may also extend the time required to complete this program. For more details, see the Academic Placement and Testing section.
Graduates of the program will receive an Associate of Science degree. The Associate of Science program is available at all Colorado Mountain College locations; however, not every course is offered on every campus, some campuses may require travel between sites or technology-enhanced modalities to complete the degree.
